(PETERSEN MEDIA- Merced, CA)- A big two-nights of racing action went down for the new and improved Merced Speedway last weekend, and another great night o racing is on tap this Saturday night with a ton of kids giveaway items up for grabs.
The South Bay Dwarf Car Association had a big weekend in Merced, CA where three divisions of cars put on quite the show over the span of Friday and Saturday night.
In Saturday night action, Shawn Jones picked up the victory in the Prod Division as he bested Ryan Winter, Joe Frock, and Terre Rothweiler. Lonnie Tekaat took top honors in the Sportsman Division over Jimmy Damron, Garrett Brady, and Mack Aceves. In Veteran Division action, Kevin Bender was victorious as he led the way over Eric Weisler, Scott Dahlgren, John Krempp, and Phil Confer.
IMCA Modified action on Friday night saw 15 cars return to the speedway for action with Randy Brown grabbing the win. Chasing Brown across the stripe was Ryan Porter, Shane DeVolder, Jesse Burks, and Troy Foulger.
Friday night also saw 26 IMCA Sport Mods in attendance for the first of two nights of action. Kelly Wilkinson would park his machine in victory lane over Nick Tucker, Patty Ryland, Tanner Thomas, and Fred Ryland.
Saturday night the IMCA Sport Mods would return to action with 27 cars checking into the pit area on this night as Andrew Peckham would pocket the win. Fred Ryland, Bruce Nelson, Nick Tucker, and KC Keller would round out the top-five.
Also on Saturday night’s card was the Mini Late Models making their first appearance of the season at Merced Speedway. Tim Crews would pick up the win over Riley Jeppesen, and Logan Clay.
Fast forward to this Saturday night and there is all kinds of things going on at Merced Speedway. As history shows, the first ever race held at the facility was a midget race back in 1949. Saturday night, for the first time in the track’s history they will host a USAC sanctioned event as the USAC Western States Midgets headline the card as they will be joined by IMCA Modified, the Mini Stocks, and the Hobby Stocks in what is being billed as the Inaugural Easter Egg Spectacular.
To go along with a great line up of racing action, there will be tons of give away items up for grabs to our young fans.
The first 100 kids to enter the facility Saturday night will go home with a complimentary coloring book.
During the night of racing action, there will be an Easter Egg hunt with the drivers, and the eggs will be marked with special prizes. Some of those prizes include 9 bikes, 2 scooters, 2 Fire tablets, Traxxas RC Car, Diecast Racecars, and upwards of 50 additional prizes.
Saturday night the pit gates will open at 2PM with the draw closing promptly at 5pm.
The main grandstands will open at 5pm Saturday with tickets available to adults for $15, Seniors and Military members with ID for $13, children 6-12 for just $5, and those fans 5 and under admitted for free.
