(PETERSEN MEDIA- Merced, CA)- Finally able to get 2019 off and running, a full pit area filled with 62 total cars spread amongst four divisions put on quite a show on the revamped Merced Speedway.
IMCA Modified action drew the biggest crowd, as 28 cars made their way to the facility now under the leadership of S&S Promotions. When all was said and done it was standout, Troy Foulger grabbing the win. Foulger would lead the way over Bobby Hogge IV, Ethan Dotson, Dwayne Cleveland, and Randy Brown.
Austin Burke and Robby Sawyer would each pick up B Main wins, with heat race wins going to Hogge IV, Ryan Porter, Dotson, and Cleveland.
WRS 305 action saw 15 cars check into the pit area. When the dust settled it was Grant Champlin finding victory lane ahead of Grant Duinkerken, Kyle Rasmussen, Rob Soloman, and Brendan Warmerdam.
Rasmussen would lead the way in qualifying time trials, as Michael Pombo and Brendan Warmerdam grabbed heat race wins.
Chris Birdsong was the class of the field in Valley Sportsman action. Birdsong would grab the opening night win ahead of Chris Corder, Rick Elliot, Mike Freisen, and Eric Seely. Seely would grab the lone heat race win of the night for this division.
14 Mini Stocks led to an exciting feature event that saw Jennifer Rodgers score Merced Speedway lore. Chasing Rodgers across the stripe was Shawn DePriest, Chris Corder, Les Ragsdale, and Clinton Massey.
With two heat races on the card for the Mini Stocks, wins went to Lucy Falkenberg and Clinton Massey.
Heading into the this weekend, more beautiful weather looks to be on hand for another exciting night of racing action.
This week will be two nights of action at Merced Speedway as the South Bay Dwarf Cars will invade for the Dwarf Car Nationals.
Friday night the South Bay Dwarf Cars will be joined by the IMCA Modifieds and the IMCA Sport Mods, and on Saturday they will again be joined by the IMCA Sport Mods and the Mini Late Models.
Both Friday and Saturday night the pit gates will open at 1PM with the draw closing promptly at 5pm.
The main grandstands will open at 5pm both Friday and Saturday with tickets available to adults for $12, Seniors and Military members with ID for $10, children 6-12 for just $5, and those fans 5 and under admitted for free.
